Erlend is a Scottish photographer whose work seeks to explore what shapes us and moulds identity, providing a sense of being through tradition, geography, belief and circumstance.

His practice is is influenced by living and working in over 30 countries across Africa, South America, the Middle East and Europe for more than 20 years, often in fragile and conflict-affected contexts such as Darfur, Palestine, South Sudan, Angola, Uganda, Afghanistan, Ecuador and Bolivia. He is a humanitarian worker and international election expert and has worked for the Red Cross, UN and NGOs as well as advised the UK government on policy and programming.

Erlend completed a Masters degree in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism from the London College of Communication in 2015 graduating with Distinction. He also holds a Masters in Human Rights and Democratisation and a law degree specialising in International Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law.

He is currently based in Ankara, Turkey.
